Changes in the Circle of Bishops in 2016

The year 2016 has seen a number of changes in the circle of Bishops.

 

Deaths:

Bishop James Orendo passed away on 28th March 2016 after succumbing to injuries sustained in a motorbike accident. He served for 8 years in the bishop ministry, the funeral service was conducted on 9th April 2016 by Apostle Bernard Ochieng Ogalo at his home in Nyamoyi-Bondo. He was assisted at the funeral by Apostle Daniel Otumba.

 

Bishop (ir) Henry Kabururu passed away on 22nd May 2016. He served for 15 years as Bishop and retired in 2015. The funeral service was conducted by Apostle Chrispin Kinyua on 31st May 2016 at his home in Anjaru Kenya. He was assisted at the funeral by Apostle Peter Kitonga.

 

Retirements:

Three Bishops were retired in 2016. The retirements were carried out by the District Apostle Joseph Opemba Ekhuya acting by the commission of Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider.

 5th Jun. 2016   

Bishop James Oderekongu Osilo of North Eastern Uganda retired. Bishop Osillo had served for 15 years as Bishop.

 12th Aug. 2016   

Bishop Joshua Mukiti Nguli of Kyuso-Kenya retired. Bishop Nguli had served for 5 years as Bishop.

 18th Sept. 2016   

Bishop Isaiah Nambikwa Musungu of Mumias Kenya retired. Bishop Isaiah Musungu had served for 22 years as Bishop. 

 

Ordinations:

Two Bishops were ordained in 2016. The ordinations were carried out by the District Apostle Joseph Opemba Ekhuya acting by the commission of Chief Apostle Jean Luc Schneider.

  • District Elder Phillip Mutia Mbia was ordained into Bishop Ministry at Gai Congregation in Kyuso Kenya on 12th August 2016. He replaces Bishop Nguli and works with Apostle Jonathan Mutua.
  • District Elder Johnson Okelo was ordained as Bishop at Masaka Town congregation on 27th November 2016. His working areas include Soroti, Lira and Kitgum in North Eastern Uganda. He replaces Bishop James Oderekongu and works with Apostle Francis Mwesigwa.
